Sales gallery for Kalae in Ward Village to open Oct. 1
The sales gallery for Kalae — the 10th residential tower approved for development in Ward Village, new renderings for which have recently been released — will open Saturday, Oct. 1.
Developed by the Howard Hughes Corp., Ward Village is a 60-acre master-planned community located between Downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.
The Hawaii Community Development Association in August approved plans for Kalae, which will create 330 new homes, expand Victoria Ward Park Makai and enhance experiential public art and retail activations, according to an announcement from the developer.
“Early interest for Kalae has been excellent, and we are excited to open the sales gallery on Saturday, Oct. 1,” Bonnie Wedemeyer, executive vice president, sales & strategy, The Howard Hughes Corp. said in a statement. “We are grateful to see continued demand for the expanded parks and streetscapes, quality homes and exciting retail concepts we’re adding to the community.”
Kalae is designed by architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz, interior designer Nicole Hollis and landscape architect Vita Inc.
The development will have expansive views of Oahu’s coastline and a number of recreational amenities integrated into a lush landscape, with numerous pools, water features, and semi-private indoor-outdoor courtyards with adjacent bungalow.
Other amenities for residents also include a spa, fitness studio, personal training and treatment rooms, movement studio, saunas, barbecue areas with grills and a pizza oven as well as secure bicycle storage areas, the announcement noted.
Although an estimated cost is not yet available, the developer said Kalae is projected to contribute $606 million in economic impact, $198 million in workers’ earnings and $37 million in state tax revenue. The project also is expected to generate $127 million in real property tax over 30 years.
An average of more than 850 jobs will be created annual for three years to construct the building. during the building’s three years of construction, according to the announcement.
