A total of 737 residences will be offered at Kahuina — including 396 affordable-priced units, all of which will be sold fee simple. Interested buyers who meet the requirements of a Qualified & Eligible applicant under Hawaii’s HRS Chapter 201H may now submit their application.

DEP Affordable Program unit pricing:
1-Bedroom Residences range $514,800 to $576,000
2-Bedroom Residences range $622,800 to $665,900
Completed applications received by 5:00 PM on February 20, 2025 will be prioritized before applications received after that date. Approved, and eligible purchasers will receive a selection number. To qualify, applicants must:
(1) Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien
(2) Be at least 18 years old
(3) Is domiciled in the State of Hawaii and will physically reside in the unit to be purchased
(4) Has a gross income sufficient to qualify for the loan to finance the purchase
(5) Is a person who either by the person's self, or together with spouse or household member. does not own a majority interest in fee simple or leasehold lands suitable for dwelling purposes or a majority interest in lands under any trust agreement or other fiduciary arrangement in which another person holds the legaltitle to the land.

The HHFDC release will be first-come first-served. On the day of launch, there will be an official newspaper advertisement announcing the release. Applications will be available HERE and applications with the required documents will be submitted through an online portal.
What Applicants Can Do Now
The most time-consuming step is typically the prequalification letter, so we strongly encourage your clients to begin this process immediately by speaking to one of the project approved lenders.
Applicants must obtain a prequalification letter from a Kahuina project lender for the initial application as they have gone through training on how to qualify buyers.
On top of getting a prequalification letter, Applicants can also start to gather their required documents so the launch is announced, everything can be uploaded immediately.
