Ground breaks on The Park Ward Village

In addition to "expansive open green spaces," The Park Ward Village offers an amenity deck with barbecue cabanas, pickleball and tennis courts, a resort pool, a lap pool, walking paths and lawns, a spa and more.

According to the announcement, The Park Ward Village also will bring streetscape improvements that include expanded sidewalks, pedestrian pathways and bicycle connections around the perimeter "to create a seamless, multimodal connection throughout the pedestrian and bike-friendly neighborhood."

Concurrently, Victoria Ward Park will expand by nearly 50%, including new play structures, outdoor seating, event lawn and park-side dining, the announcement noted.

“Today’s groundbreaking represents a great milestone for the heart of our neighborhood,” Doug Johnstone, President, Hawaii, The Howard Hughes Corp. said in a statement. “The Park Ward Village pulls together the best of thoughtfully integrated and expanded parks, shops, restaurants and new homes.”

According to the developer, The Park Ward Village — which offers studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with ocean and island views — was 90.6% pre-sold as of mid-2022.

The building is designed by architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz, interior designer Yabu Pushelberg and landscape architect Vita Design Group.

Six residential buildings in Ward Village have been completed — Waiea, Anaha, Aeo, Ke Kilohana, Aalii and, most recently, Koula. Victoria Place, Ulana Ward Village and Kalae are new residential buildings in development.

In honor of the groundbreaking milestone, Ward Village donated $15,000 to Downtown Art Center and gifted $15,000 to the Friends of Honolulu Botanical Garden, according to the announcement.
